MELANOTAN II (Melanotan II Peptide Hormone)

MELANOTAN II (Melanotan II Peptide Hormone) is a man-made analog of the Alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, which belongs to the family of melanocyte-stimulating hormones. This medication is used in photoprotection against the effects of ultraviolet rays. It is also used in skin tanning and for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and fibromyalgia. MELANOTAN II is manufactured as 10mg/vial injections which contain Melanotan II Peptide hormone 10 mg and excipients.

MELANOTAN II Mechanism of Action.

As an analog of Alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone, it acts on the melanocortin receptors. There are 5 melanocortin receptors (M1 – M5). Melanotan II acts on M1 to initiate melanogenesis and skin pigmentation. It also has other effects such as increasing libido when it acts on other melanocortin receptors.
